ABOUT

We are a group of artists who resolutely and decisively condemn Russian invasion in Ukraine and war crimes of Russian military in Ukraine. We are doing all in our power to stop this terrible war and use our art to help those impacted by it. On the 10th April at the theatre at Rudolf Steiner House, a glittering array of performers - including world-famous Ukrainian baritone, YURIY YURCHUK, award-winning violinist BEN GILMORE, acclaimed pianists MIKHAIL SHILYAEV and OLGA JEGUNOVA, dancer and choreographer KIRILL BURLOV, and actors from the Russian theatre company, XAMELEON–will perform a mixed repertoire of Russian and Ukrainian works. There will also be performances from young musicians from the London Russian School of Music. After the performance there will be a drinks reception with opportunities to meet and talk with the artists.

YURIY YURCHUK

Ukrainian baritone Yuriy Yurchuk is the Royal Opera House principal artist, described by The Times as "the finest voice on stage ...with the immaculate Italianate line" and "rich, deep voice capable of great versatility" by Bachtrack. Yuriy is a prize winner in Queen Sonja International Singing Competition (Norway), Montserrat Caballe International Singing Competition (Spain), Ottavio Ziino International Singing Competition (Rome), Monastero Foundation Bel Canto competition (USA), Fritz and Lavinia Jensen competition (USA) and Chicago NATS vocal competition.

KIRILL BURLOV

Kirill Burlov is a professionally trained ballet dancer and contemporary artist with a performance range spanning musical theatre, contemporary, physical theatre, folk dance and ballet. 
After 10 years of performing in The Latvian National Ballet Kirill graduated from the Latvian Music Conservatoire as a choreographer. He subsequently choreographed performances internationally in a variety of styles. In the UK his works were shown at the Shaw Theatre, Sadler's Wells, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Robin Howard Dance Theatre and for the opening of the Rambert Home Studio

OLGA JEGUNOVA

Olga Jegunova is a multifaceted Russian-Latvian artist combining various genres and disciplines. While being a classical concert pianist, she puts strong emphasis on educational projects and philanthropic work. Alongside her award-winning pianist career, she has committed to a varied practice collaborating with other artists, publishing digitally and in print, launching a podcast as well as supporting musicians through fund-raising concerts. Olga’s interactive approach to audiences is another one of her unique qualities reflected in an effort to involve them in the performance by breaking down the traditional boundaries of classical recital.

BEN GILMORE

Ben Gilmore is a passionate chamber musician and often collaborates with members of the SCO and Philharmonia, and has performed at festivals such as Kuhmo, Prussia Cove and Ravinia. Benjamin’s father was the musicologist Bob Gilmore and his grandfather is the conductor Lev Markiz. He won prizes at the Oskar Back, Joseph Joachim and Salzburg Mozart competitions, and became a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Benjamin is currently joint concertmaster with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra and has appeared as soloist and director with the SCO and the Camerata Salzburg.

MIKHAIL SHILYAEV

Born in Russia, Mikhail Shilyaev Supported by many awards, Mikhail is a prizewinner of many competitions, including the last Vianna da Motta Piano Competition in Lisbon. Mikhail has played throughout Europe in the most important venues including Wigmore Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, Gulbenkian Centre in Lisbon. He has performed as soloist with the London Soloist Chamber Orchestra, the London Musical Arts Orchestra and the Gulbenkian Symphony Orchestra among others. Mikhail’s recent CD’s for Toccata Classics and for Stone Records were enthusiastically received by critics.

RUSSIAN LONDON MUSIC SCHOOL

The London Russian Music Academy (LRMA) grew out of the Belsize Music Academy which was founded in 2011 to provide first class music education to children in the UK, regardless of their financial circumstances. The charity unites under one roof, a music school based on Russian pedagogical tradition, a performance venue and the home of the London International Chamber Orchestra - a professional orchestra affiliated with LRMA, made up of professional musicians of exceptional talent.

XAMELEON THEATRE

Xameleon Theatre is a London-based theatre company founded in 2015. Working with theatre makers from Russian speaking countries, including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Baltic and Central Asian countries,
Xameleon Theatre introduces Russian theatre traditions to the UK theatre scene. Over last couple of years Xameleon Theatre presented various shows based on Russian and international classics, including Love in a Nutshell based on Anton Chekhov’s short stories, Odessa Stories by Isaac Babel, A Doll’s House by Ibsen and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Xameleon Theatre also holds annual New Russian Drama Week – series of rehearsed reading showcasing some of the most important Russian language plays of the last 25 year

Tickets: £20 for General admission and £15 for Children admission  - extra donations can be made on the door. All proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee: UKRAINE HUMANITARIAN APPEAL.
